Museums and Places of interest

For days out in and around Northwich there is the award winning Lion Salt Works on its doorstep together with the Anderton Boat lift where there is an opportunity to take a boat trip along the Weaver Navigation that includes the boat lift. If you are more daring you can take the ‘top of the world tour’ where visitors are guided from the information centre on to the lift, along the aqueduct into the control tower. In the town there are distinctive black and white timber framed buildings designed to be ‘jacked up’ in case of subsidence from salt mining and at the Weaver Hall Museum the social history of the town can be experienced through displays, models, photographs and film.
