Michael Lanham – A Community Hero

Michael Lanham is classed as a community hero in Northwich, especially in the new ASDA store in Barons Quay. With people preparing for a weekend boogie, Michael does the complete opposite. Michael has been handing out warm food to the homeless people of Northwich, in an attempt to make a difference. With ASDA on the lookout for local, or community heroes, Michael claimed ASDA’s latest community hero award.

As well as handing out warm food for the homeless, Michael also goes out his way to see if can find somewhere warm for them to stay for the night. With ASDA’s new search to find heroes in the community, it has invited people around Northwich to nominate people they believe are worthy of the award.

Wendy Harrison, a person who nominated Michael said: “Michael is a credit to the town and an excellent role model to the younger generation. He regularly attends charity events to raise money for various causes, and will go out of his way to help anybody.”

Since he won the award, Michael was invited to the ASDA store and commented on winning the award. “It was fantastic to win the award, and I was amazed when I was told how many people had voted for me. My parents were shocked but really pleased for me.”

ASDA have also commented on the matter with the store manager Katie Coburn saying: “We want our store to be at the heart of the community, and couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate that than acknowledge a person who goes the extra mile to help others in the local area. On behalf of the whole ASDA team we’re so proud to have Michael as part of the local community, and want to thank him for all he has done.”

On behalf of everyone at Barons Quay we would like to congratulate and thank Michael for his efforts in feeding the homeless as well as raising money for charity. We hope this can inspire other youngsters to take their time out and help change the lives of those who are less fortunate.
