The Northwich River Festival is Returning to Barons Quay!

Details on the 2018 Northwich River Festival have been released and we are happy to reveal that the Northwich Dragon Boat Challenge will take place on the River Weaver beside Barons Quay.

The Northwich Rotary Club challenges local businesses, clubs, pubs and friendship groups to put teams together for the annual boat race which aims to raise money for charities. The selected charities this year are the Alzheimers Society, RNLI and Rotary Charities.

14 teams entered the boat race last year and the Rotary Club is hoping to see that number increase to at least 20 this year, with groups dressed in fancy dress to bring a fun visual element to the event.

The race will begin at Town Bridge and will travel along the Barons Quay stretch of the River Weaver. Teams who enter will be able to donate 50% of their sponsorship money to the official charities and the other 50% to a charity of their choice.

Typhoon and the Pedal Players will be returning to the 2018 River Festival, following their success at last years event. Perfect for family audiences, they are an interactive steampunk inspired cargo bicycle which has been turned into a Time Machine. New songs, sketches and bespoke scripts have been created taking inspiration from Cheshire’s salt mine heritage and landscape.
