Barons Quay, Northwich is launching its festive campaign this week, which promises to bring some much needed seasonal colour and cheer to the centre this December with a host of activities for people to enjoy, including a rainbow light installation!

The Project Merry light installation, which is now in situ in the wildflower meadow area of the centre opposite Sticky Paws and next to Odeon Cinemas, has created an ‘after dark rainbow wonderland’ that people can wander through and includes a 10 metre light tunnel, disco balls and a rainbow forest.  Buildings in the area have also been given the rainbow treatment with colourful uplighting to help create a magical experience for shoppers and visitors.

On Saturday 28th November at 10am, families are invited to take part in an online art workshop with Project Happy artist Emma Evans, who will be encouraging children to make their own piece of artwork at home that will then become part of a large-scale art installation at Barons Quay before Christmas.  Any child that takes part, will also go into a prize draw to win a £50 voucher for The Entertainer.

In December, Barons Quay is launching an exciting online game called ‘Make Yourself Merry’, where local people can have have fun uploading photos and giving them a festive twist for a chance to win a £200 shopping voucher! There will also be a digital gift guide to help shoppers find the perfect presents for friends and family this year.

Barons Quay Centre Manager Lina Higuita said: “It has been a tough year for everyone, the pandemic has prevented many celebrations taking place in 2020, so we decided that no matter what the restrictions are in place this December we are on a mission to make people merry this Christmas!

“Much like our Project Happy campaign we are bringing colour, light and positivity to the people of Northwich and there are a number of ways people can be involved. If you are visiting the Centre please come and see our Project Merry rainbow light installation, you can wander through the tunnel, have a dance under the disco balls or simply sit and enjoy the atmosphere.

“Our online activities will get you in the mood for Christmas and help you plan your present buying – this year more than any other we need to show the ones we love how much we appreciate them.”
