The Coffee House Opens at Barons Quay

The Coffee House, a new independent coffee shop and café has opened its doors at Barons Quay shopping centre in Northwich, employing 13 people from the local area.

The new café, which has seating for 100 people inside and 50 outside serves a good range of homemade breakfast, lunches and confectionery, made at the business’ central kitchen. There is also an extensive drinks menu including its top quality three bean coffee blend of course!

Owners of The Coffee House Chris and Stephen Shelmerdine, opened their first coffee house in 2011 in Lymm and since then have successfully opened a chain of coffee shops located in Partington, Sale, Huyton and Widnes.  The new Northwich shop will be the latest in their portfolio, although the duo has plans for further expansion in 2020.

Customers can expect a warm welcome from The Coffee House staff who have undergone extensive training to deliver the best customer service, with 100% of the team coming from Northwich.

Inside the décor is clean and contemporary, but unlike your average coffee shop it includes a stunning, large-scale artificial tree that lights up when the evenings draw-in.  Also, instead of generic art on the walls, the owners commissioned unique wall typography that includes local facts and quotes about Northwich, providing an interesting backdrop for customers and a complimentary nod to its locality.

Co-Owner Chris Shelmerdine said: “There’s a great community spirit here in Northwich and we are looking forward to being part of it in the coming months. Although we have other coffee houses, we wanted to make the Barons Quay shop bespoke to the local area, celebrating its history but also the exciting plans for the future! 

“What sets us apart from the well-known coffee shop chains is our commitment to working with local producers, our home-made food and our excellent customer service, we hope that people will realise that we are not just another coffee shop!”
