NEWS

Visitors flocked to Northwich on Saturday 21st July as ‘Beach on the Quay’ was launched at Weaver Point Square at Barons Quay.

Sandcastles at Beach on the Quay, Northwich

Comprising a giant artificial urban beach, people spent the day making sandcastles and relaxing on the deckchairs provided by organisers Barons Quay and the Northwich Business Improvement District (BID).

Children were wowed by Homer & Marge too as the famous pair of Donkeys came to Northwich to give rides on both the Saturday and Sunday, while people enjoyed having their photos taken in summer-themed picture frames to really get into the British seaside spirit.

The beach will remain at Barons Quay until Sunday 2nd September and will be open from 10am-6pm every day throughout the summer holidays.

‘ATTRACTION ADDS A SUMMER VIBE TO NORTHWICH’

Lina Higuita, who is the Operations Manager at Barons Quay, believes the innovative attraction adds a summer vibe to Northwich and has urged people to come and check it out over the next few weeks.

“After a lot of planning and research, we wanted to deliver something a little bit unique that would create a buzz in Northwich and introduce something that a lot of people won’t have ever seen before in a town centre environment.

“We feel Beach on the Quay delivers this and allows people to have the feeling of sand between their toes without travelling out of Cheshire. It was great to see people enjoying the beach, deckchairs and buckets and spades over the weekend, and hopefully the nice weather will continue so people can take full advantage of the attraction.”

Northwich BID Manager Jane Hough thinks Beach on the Quay is a great addition to Northwich’s summer activities and hopes it will help bring even further footfall to the town’s businesses.

‘A GREAT SUMMER OFFERING FOR VISITORS’

“Complimenting the Festival of Arts and following on from the Northwich River Festival, the installation of Beach on the Quay gives Northwich a great summer offering for visitors. Hopefully the people of the town and wider Mid Cheshire will come to enjoy it and also spend some time checking out the town’s businesses, cafes and bars. There’s a real buzz around Northwich at the moment.

“This is just the latest in a long line of great activities and attractions organised at Barons Quay and I’m sure there are many more exciting things to come in the future.”

One such event takes place on Saturday 28th July when Riverside Live comes to Barons Quay. From 1pm-5pm, people will be able to enjoy live music and have the chance to order food and drink from Wildwood. This all takes place in Weaver Point opposite Northwich ODEON cinema.
