Local Children Create Rainbows of Hope at Barons Quay
NEWS
A sparkly new piece of artwork has appeared in Barons Quay, thanks to the creative efforts of local children and North West artist Emma Evans.
During the November lockdown Barons Quay hosted an online workshop, inviting children to take part and create their own rainbows for a new display at the centre. Children were encouraged to use a range of materials to make their designs as colourful as possible, they were also asked to write a positive message on the back of their creations.
Once complete parents were asked to post them in a special postbox at Barons Quay, where they were later collected by Emma, who has included them in a new window display opposite River Island, entitled Rainbows of Hope.
Barons Quay Centre Manager Lina Higuita said: “We launched our Project Merry campaign in November to make Christmas special in spite of any restrictions that may be in place. As part of this we worked with Emma to create the online workshop to help families engage with the campaign and give local children the opportunity to be part of something positive for Christmas and the new year. We’d like to thank everyone who contributed to the display, there is certainly some creative talent in Northwich.”
Emma Evans said: “Rainbows became a symbol of hope during the first lockdown and have been the inspiration for this new piece of art for Barons Quay. The children’s designs are amazing, I have been so impressed by the originality and creativity! The rainbows are central to my design, I used coloured lights, gold stars and a very sparkly backdrop to compliment and highlight the children’s artwork.”
The artwork will be on display throughout the winter months to bring colour and positivity for local residents during these challenging times.
