Connections Art Exhibition Opens!

NEWS

A new exhibition organised by Visual Arts Cheshire will go on display at Barons Quay from the 23rd May, featuring artwork from over 20 Northwich primary schools.

This year’s exhibition is entitled ‘Connections’ and explores how we make connections with one another and with people from around the world.

Twenty-three schools have contributed work including schools within the town and its neighbouring villages.

Visitors can view the colourful artworks at Barons Quay in the units next to River Island until the 24th June.

Young art lovers can also engage with the exhibition by taking part in the Connections Challenge for a chance to win a £50 prize from The Entertainer.

Children are tasked with completing a series of questions based on the exhibition to help them discover what it’s all about in this fun quiz.   Activity sheets can be collected from The Entertainer from the 27th May; once completed they should be posted in the special box in the travelator hall.  A winner will be picked at random and announced by 1st July.

Phil Carswell, from Visual Arts Cheshire said: “The work is a testament to the imagination and creativity of the children and their teachers. Once again, the ideas are explored using a variety of mediums and provide an intriguing insight into children’s ideas and beliefs, giving us all food for thought!”

Lina Higuita, Centre Manager at Barons Quay said: “We are delighted to welcome back Visual Arts Cheshire to Barons Quay for another thought-provoking exhibition. We know that visitors enjoy seeing the artwork; this year we are pleased that young people can get involved in the Connections Challenge to help them engage and better understand the works on display.”

Adam Gerrard, Northwich BID Project Manager said: “It’s great to see this exhibition in Northwich, giving young people a prime location for showcasing their work. I would encourage people to come to Northwich to view the work and whilst here drop in and support a local business.”

The exhibition is supported by Barons Quay and Northwich BID and was organised by Visual Arts Cheshire, a voluntary organisation which promotes arts within the Northwich area.
