Free Kids Events with Northwich Library

Northwich Library’s first craft and storytelling session went off with a bang at Barons Quay last week, with a rocket themed event for Bonfire Night!

The free event, which took place on Wednesday 3rd November at Costa, inside Odeon, was attended by a number of local families with children aged 0-4 years old.  The youngsters enjoyed a space-themed story, told by the Library staff and then created their own rockets to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night.

It was the first in a series of sessions that will take place on the first Wednesday of every month, 11am – 12pm and will feature a different theme each time.  Parents and carers wishing to attend can simply turn up on the day, there’s no need to book.

The monthly events are part of the Barons Quay Kids Club, which launched earlier this year to provide free events for local families and pre-school children. Events to date include dancing, music, drama, crafts and water safety with Puddle Ducks.

The next Library event will be held on Wednesday 7th December, at the same location and will include a festive story and Christmas crafts.

Caroline Dunseath, Locality Librarian for the Northwich and Winsford area, said: “While we await our new temporary home for Northwich Library it’s brilliant to be able to come to Barons Quay and engage with young people at these events. The aim is to promote books from a young age and encourage parents and children to read together now and in the future.  Our friendly team brings the stories to life with a craft activity that ties into the book and makes it more accessible for little ones. We look forward to meeting more local families in the next few months.”
