The Charlatans & added special guests will be welcomed to Barons Quay

From the 10th to 20th May it will be all go across Northwich as The Charlatans return to their home town.

The highlight of the week will be four Charlatan concerts on the 14th, 17th, 18th and 19th May. Tickets sold out in minutes for the shows at the Memorial Court, this however is not all that is happening. Down at Barons Quay opposite the Odeon a Charlatans hub will be opened on the 10th May by BBC 6Music and BBC Radio 2 DJ Mark Radcliffe and the Charlatans. Exhibiting an array of The Charlatan posters, instruments and memorabilia as well as selling special merchandise it will be a focus for all the activity in and around Barons Quay.

Barons Quay will support screenings of three films at the Odeon cinema, the re-scored Factory Floor version of the acclaimed 1930s Fritz Lang film Metropolis, Bunch of Kunst featuring Sleaford Mods and Journeyman written, directed by and starring Paddy Considine who will also be doing a special podcast before the film’s showing. Paddy Considine is a BAFTA award winning director for the film Tyrannosaur which he also wrote, other credits are starring in commended and admired films including Dead Man’s Shoes; A Room for Romeo Brass; Cinderella Man; and TV appearances in Peaky Blinders and The Suspicions of Mr Whicher.  Tickets are still available here!

Other events at Barons Quay include an interview with Gary Neville on the 16th May, and a welcome to Northwich to Liverpool Sound City who are holding satellite music sessions on the 18th May. Sound City is the promoter of the major festival of the same name in Liverpool featuring national and international music acts on the indie music scene. Dave Haslam the former DJ at the Hacienda nightclub is launching his book Sonic Youth Slept On My floor; Music, Manchester & More which reflects on his experiences at the Hacienda; with Factory records and Tony Wilson; and with the many top bands he has encountered over the years.

Though some of the events around the town are sold out more are being announced day by day. There will be the opportunity also to visit free events such as the Vinyl Adventures Record Fair which will take place in the old Plaza cinema on Friday 18th from 4pm – 8pm, and on Saturday 19th, from 10pm – 6pm, there will also be food and drink venues down at the river at Barons Quay, everyone is welcome to come and savour the atmosphere; you never know who you might bump into.
